About the Waiver
2001 House Bill 2519, section 13 establishes the Waiver Application Steering Committee.
The statute charges the committee to:

1.  Recommend the level of benefits to be included in the waiver application for the OHP Standard benefit package.

2.  Assist and advise the Department of Human Services in the preparation of the application for federal waivers necessary to carry out the OHP expansion described In HB 2519.

3.  Ensure that the concerns and views of Oregonians interested in the Oregon Health Plan are fully considered in the preparation of the waiver application.

4.  Carefully consider the connection between the coverage provided thorough the state Medicaid program and coverage provided through private insurance.

5.  Assist in identifying circumstances under which persons covered under the waivers may use coverage provided through the state Medicaid program and coverage provided through private insurance.  These circumstances shall ensure that the viability of the community-based health plans currently with contracts to provide health care services under the Oregon Health Plan will be maintained.
